From George R.R. Martin's Blog...
We are 1 Step closer to the sweetness!!
Since the Clinton Campaign's recent whinging about what votes do and do not count got me thinking about it, I found what are ostensibly the official rules of Calvinball for your reading pleasure. For anyone who has not picked up at least one Calvin and Hobbes compilation, you're really missing out.
Amazon says it's September 30th.
Hmmm.

I bet the book of revelations according to St. John is the shit.
Well, I know everyone around here is a big Song of Fire & Ice fans. I used to gobble up escapist fiction, but these days I just don't have the time. Something has got to be really good to compete with TV or games because I work all the time. If you pay attention around here, you might have noticed that I have become a non-obsessive fan of Warhammer 40,000 (if you have met the obsessive type, you know what I mean). It's summer time and that means light beach reading so I thought I would share some really great fun books. Read more for my recommendations!
Cool story about a lion that was raised domestic, then later freed into the wild.
He travelled by Bentley, ate in fine London restaurants and spent his days lounging in a furniture shop. The story of Christian the pet lion - and his eventual release into the wild - is as moving as it is incredible.
The furniture shop was on the King's Road in London. It sold tables, wardrobes, chairs and desks - but anybody peering through its plate-glass window on a Sunday might have noticed something rather more unusual.
Amid all the pine and oak, stretched out languidly on a bench, there was a lion. And it wasn't stuffed.[ Christian, the lion who lived in my London living room | the Daily Mail ]
HBO seems to do a good job with most things, I hope they do well by G-double-R
George R.R. Martin%u2019s Song of Ice and Fire has just been acquired by HBO for an ongoing series[ HBO Acquires Rights To George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire @ Blogcritics.org ]
This right here just sealed the deal. Now I'm forced to re-subscribe to HBO.
Each book will be a single year. It'll be a pretty damn good series if done properly.
I was watching the Season Premiere of Rome the other day, and it's damn good. So, I'm sure that HBO will do it justice. Can't wait. Seriously can't wait.
And honestly, I'd rather have 15-20 1 hour episodes than a single movie (3-4 hours, tops) for each book. Much /MUCH/ better this way.
For all you George R. R. Martin Fans out there, it's a lovely "Art of Fire & Ice" book. I've not seen the pictures inside, but heard from a friend who has it.. and they love it.
Just a reminder to everyone:

The book was released today. I fully expect someone who is on this board to read it and have a copy availible to me when they come to Reno for the Holidays.
You know who you are. . .
You have a very busy schedule and don't have time to read a book. In fact, you don't even have time to read the Cliff Notes version of that book.

Anyone who quotes Poe is allright by me. But even if he didn't, this is just creepy and cool:
