So due to the crash I went ahead and moved the site to a new server. In the process I went ahead and upgraded us and changed the theme to the new default theme.
Anyway, we lost about 2 days worth of data due to an issue with my backup server. My bad.
Let me know what you think about the new site/theme. If you see any issues, please let me know via email ASAP and I'll dig into it.
Proper.
So it turns out that as of the 15th of this month the site has been around for 5 years. Thats 5 years of dick jokes, 2girls1*, geeky shit, politics, and the occasional thoughtful post.
Here's to another 5 years. Proper!
So, a long time back I setup Google Analytics on this site to gather info about what things people were looking at, and how much traffic we were getting. Every so often I take a peak at it. Well, today was one of those days, and I thought I'd share what I learned with all of you. What makes us popular?

Hey guys, so, I was talking w/ killermookie the other night about the site, and I think it's time we gave the upgrade thing another try.
That said, I think we're pretty much scewed on trying to upgrade the existing site to the latest version of drupal. KM gave me the idea of moving the current site out of the way (maybe archive.americanidle.org?) and then just start with a fresh DB for the latest Drupal. What do you guys think? The new drupal really does rock, and eventually there's going (maybe already is?) to be a security problem with this version and they likely won't support it.
Hey guys, I'm going to be taking the server down on either Sunday or Monday for a little while to upgrade some of the backend stuff. Nothing should change in any of your eyes, but I need to get some security patches and what not deployed while I have the time.
It shouldn't be down for more than 2-3 hours I'm guessing- though now that I say that the server is likely to burst into flames halfway through the upgrades.
'Funkadelic' is my new word - I like it. Anyway, I noticed that the Reuters Oddly Enough headlines were the same as they have been since late last week. Also, if you try clicking on any of them, you get a 'we're sorry, this story is not available' message. I'm not sure if it's our problem or their problem but it's a problem. All other RSS feeds seem current and linked.
Ok, so, the best part about working at my company is learning about all these cool little computer technologies. Today, a co-worker and I were talking about web programming and he brought up 'Bookmarklets'. Pretty much, they're cool little bits of javascript (dare I say the only cool piece of javascript I've seen to date) that let you do killer stuff from a bookmark.
So, I looked around, and wrote up our own little AI bookmarklet. You can see it up in the left hand corner. The last two stories I've posted were using the bookmarklet. Read More to find out how to use it yourself.
So, a lot of you probably saw that the site was down for the weekend with an ominous message speaking of hackers. Well, here's the full story:
The machine that hosts daboyz.org got hacked around a month and a half ago. It looks like multiple 'hackers' (script kiddies in this case) have been using the same exploit to mess around on the server. On the 14th of this month, one of those groups, Un-root, defaced the front page of daboyz.org. I just happened to look at it on the 17th and noticed what they had done.
Shameless Self Promotion....
The Swordier has uploaded some pic's. Mostly solo pics, as I try to get more team shots.
