Finally someone (with the authority to possibly pull it off) has said it. Legalize pot and tax its ass. Unfortunately, I doubt it will happen. The prison guard union in California is massive and spends a shitload of money against ideas like this. They have a lot to lose if the jail population were to be diminished. Still, Arnold can't be re-elected anyway so he has nothing to lose, so maybe.... [Reuters - California Considers Legalizing Pot]
A short but sweet article complete with visual aids. Using $100 bills as the unit of measurement the author shows what one million dollars looks like (it could fit in my gym bag) as well as larger denominations - up to one trillion. Try to guess what one trillion dollars would look like using $100 bills and then click here. I'll admit, I was pretty far off...
Hey! We have an economy tag! Awesome!
Anyways, found this wired article pretty interesting - all about how one quant formula killed the world's economies.

Human Rights Campaign developed this exhaustive list of companies and how they relate to 'the homosexual agenda'. (I have not received a single memo or newsletter regarding THA and to be honest I'm a bit bummed). It's very straight(ha!)-forward: good comapnies are listed in green, less tolerant ones in red and yellow for in the middle. The 17 page PDF is available here. Special thanks to Colin for bringing this to my attention.
OK, long time readers here will know I have a great faith in America's racism. Read More for my rant!
Oh sure, why not. Maybe the man who is arguably the most successful business investor of all time can shed some light on all this money/credit/subprime stuff. [Charlie Rose]
Jon Stewart discusses the failure of the bailout... or rescue, or recovery or whatever they are calling that $700 billion these days.
Moving the video off the front page because it might be breaking the front page.
Hey, remember that whole government is bad angle the republicans got going on? Well, apparently it doesn't apply to preventing World Economic Collapse (tm)!

Hey, next time someone tells you we HAVE to drill for more oil, or whatever the fuck, shove this in their face.
Yea, that's right. We can get off of it whenever we want to. It just takes R+D and will.
Holy shit. Is it me or does he seriously look like he is about to become unhinged here.
Christ, were doomed.
Edit: WHERE DO WE GET THESE "MAGIC WAND"S!
Hey, there have been a lot of Republicans claiming that the US isn't in a recession and it is just a bunch of people whining serfs. Well guess what, apparently the whole world is whining now. STOP CRYING, CRY BABIES!
US concerns prompt market falls - Global shares fall sharply with London's FTSE 100 index heading towards its lowest close since October 2005. [BBC News]
Ok I know we have had posts from this website, but I think it is worth browsing again :)
It takes these two guys a minute or two to get going but this is a pretty funny explanation of the current mortgage crunch. If you like dry British humo(u)r, you will like this. Total running time about 8 and a half minutes.
HungVP158 has a message for you all.
I couldn't give a shit about the market, but I can't stop watching this.
Sheesh. You invade another country on behalf of Big Oil and then they turn around and say that it's your fault gasoline prices are so high. Ornery little bitches, aren't they? From Salon: Oil Companies Blame Bush For Gas Prices.
Okay, so I never heard of Brian Schweitzer either. He's the governor of Montana. During this interview he is clearly pushing his clean(er) burning coal agenda and has some interesting views on the Middle East. It's pretty interesting stuff if you have 25 minutes or so to listen to the whole interview. I saw this when it originally aired on March 7th.

'As all the other reasons for the Iraq invasion and occupation are tossed aside for being either intentional deceptions (WMDs) or just plain feel-good nonsense (democracy, human rights, whatever), the real reason for the war has been a total success: U.S. and British oil companies will take over Iraq’s oil fields under a new Iraqi law written by the Bush Administration.'
I'm eager to see how much the so-called 'liberal anti-Bush media' covers this. We Actually Won the Iraq War, Hooray!
Just for a change of pace I'll post something positive. Amory Lovins, CEO of the Rocky Mountain Institute, has been working for over 30 years on designing more efficient means of production and energy use. He is even starting to be taken seriously by the Pentagon (of all people) on ways to be independent of oil. What's amazing is he doesn't talk like some tree-hugging hippie about saving the planet but like an economist who shows how conservation is financially appealing (and socially conscious). Awesome stuff. Here's the link to Charlie Rose's website. The interview with Amory Lovin is from November 28th.
