Akira - Live Action Movie 2009

This may be a double-post since this was made official back in February. I don't remember seeing anything about this before and I would like to think that I would remember if I did. Anyway, we basically have animae turned into a live action movie, so I'm treating it like a comic book turned into a live action movie. Translation: I really hope this doesn't suck but it's probably a 50/50 chance. [Firstshowing.net - Live Action Akira]

Do you think the live action version of Fist of North Star was done well?

I sort of liked it....so I have some hopes for this.

It would have to damn near be perfect for it not to suck. Akira is one of the best movies ever made in IMHO. I doubt the big budget could support the sense of nihilism, exploited youth, and alienation that the animated movie hurled at its audience.
Maybe if it had a Japanese director . . .
