This topic will be used by all to make suggestions about the site, including: what changes you would make if you were running the show, what kinda content you would like to see (like news feeds, etc), and just about anything you want to be specificly termed as "site comments." All comments are welcome, except those that are critical of me or my work in any way. Those you can shove.

Because We Stand For DOOM!

I'd like to suggest the addition of a new blog category of 'DOOM!'. Think of it as the bastard love-child of 'WTF?' and 'Litany of the Annoying'. It is the new AI theme after all. This new category can be used to flag all our socio-political rants.

On a similar note, I think I saw that spinsanity is out of comish so we can get rid of that one.

Ok, any way of letting people know on the front page whether or not there's more to the article? I keep realizing that sometimes people have something to say after they post an article link, et cetera....

"read more"

There should be a "read more" link where you see the "add new comment" or the "# comments" link. That indicates that there is more than just the teaser section to view about the article.

Some Drupal Modules

I think so of the more drupal modules could be really useful on this site:

Other Things like:

  • Jabber presences and/or AIM/ICQ/other crappy IM protocols
  • I of course would like to see the Daboyz IRC channel come back ;-) but I could do with a jabber confernce room.

Jabber is...

... something sort of like AIM or ICQ. It's a messaging protocol pretty much, but it's open source. skinny_puppy would better be able to answer this question however.

I am a slackass....

.... and just responding. Jabber Is a open instant messaging protocol. Basically like AIM/ICQ/Yahoo!/MSN Messager, but does not have a central server controlled by any one company. With being open you can write all kinds of clients websites/desktop apps and have your presence known on all or none at any time. An example of this is the some web forums will show you online status and notifications of updates. Jabber also allows transports, which allow the jabber network to talk with proprietary IM networks like AIM/ICQ/Etc.

In fact the server this website is running on has jabber server. Open to anyone that would like to use it, and it allows you to connect to AIM and ICQ. If you would like to connect to others just use the jabber browser feature and connect to other jabber servers to see what they offer.
